Case Management

 At MacGregor and MacGregor, we offer two types of case coordination services. Case Management (in catastrophic cases, where clients are eligible for this service under the auto insurance plan); and Internal Case Coordination Services by one member of the MacGregor treatment team (in non-catastrophic cases where a number of services need to be coordinated but funding is not available for a case manager).

Our case managers/ case coordinators incorporate a collaborative process of assessment, planning, evaluation, facilitation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual's comprehensive health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality health outcomes.

Return to Work Planning

Skilled Vocational Experts assist persons with functional, developmental, psychological, cognitive and emotional impairments and health conditions overcome barriers to accessing, maintaining or returning to employment, to a position in the community and/ or to quality of life. This may be achieved through a graded return to work, volunteering, or work-hardening program designed specifically to meet the individuals needs. Additionally, our Vocational Experts offer assistance with job search training and resume development/ refinement.

Academic Counselling and Support

Academic counsellors at MacGregor and MacGregor assist clients in the development and implementation of meaningful educational goals/ pursuits through the Bridge to School Program. Tutoring services are also offered within the Brain Injury Resource Centre at the Grey-Bruce office location, in addition to in-home tutoring.  

Fitness Rehabilitation Coaching 

At MacGregor and MacGregor we offer one to one supervised physical fitness rehabilitation instruction. These sessions are tailored to incorporate a graded return to physical activity and can occur in your home, the MacGregor and MacGregor office, or your local fitness facility.

Recreational Therapy

Recreational Therapists use recreation and leisure to help maximize an individual's independence. Our Recreational Therapists are able to make necessary adaptations to recreation and leisure opportunities to allow for full participation. By participating in recreational therapy, individuals foster greater involvement in the community, increase confidence and self-esteem, and overall enhance well-being.  Recreational therapy sessions can be provided either in the community or within your home environment. 

Functional Abilities Evaluations 

Our Occupational Therapists and Registered Kinesiologists are able to perform Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAE) or Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) which are tests of an individual's physical abilities following an accident and/or injury. These tests utilize objective and measurable tests and are comprehensive in nature. These evaluations aim to identify barriers, such as excessive pain or movement restriction, to proper functions.

Vocational Assessments

Our Vocational Experts provide assessments aimed at identifying occupations that are matched to an individual's unique aptitudes, physical abilities, and interests. Vocational assessments highlight transferrable skills that can be applied in multiple settings. Vocational assessments can also be performed in order to provide Expert Witness Testimony in court proceedings in the form of a Vocational Expert Opinion. 

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists use a variety of standardized and functional assessment tools to assess motor, sensory, cognitive, communication, psychosocial/ behaviour skills, as they relate to the individuals ability to perform activities of daily living, school and/ or work. Occupational Therapists at MacGregor and MacGregor incorporate a biopsychosocial approach to their functional, environmental and cognitive assessments/ interventions. An Occupational Therapist's goal is to get an individual back to living a fulfilling, maximally independent life.

Psychosocial Counselling

At MacGregor and MacGregor we offer counselling referrals to registered Social Workers and/ or Psychotherapists that are available within close proximity to our clients. Counselling services are excellent resources for individuals experiencing emotional, psychological, mood, or cognitive difficulty. Counselling offers support for you and your family to adjust to the life changes you are experiencing as a result of the accident/ injury.

Attendant Care Assessments

If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, you may be entitled to an attendant care benefit. In order to assess whether or not you qualify for this benefit, your insurer or lawyer may ask us to complete an Attendant Care Assessment (Form 1). This assessment identifies specifically what care you require in order to complete your daily activities, as well as ensure your safety and emotional well-being. Our Occupational Therapists at MacGregor and MacGregor meet the qualifications required to complete this form.

Personal and Developmental Support

Our Developmental and Personal Support Workers provide direct support and assistance on a one to one basis to individuals who have an intellectual or physical disability. 

External Referrals

At MacGregor and MacGregor we strive to provide our clients with a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to restoring health and well-being. If you require a service that is not offered at MacGregor and MacGregor, our case coordinators/ managers will facilitate a referral to the appropriate professionals. 

We routinely provide referrals to the following external services:

- Massage Therapy

- Chiropractic
